I was a teenage single mom and on welfare for almost 10 years, so I’m familiar with feeling behind. During those 10 years, I ran out of money before month end. I paid bills late and incurred late fees. I over drafted my bank account and incurred bank fees. I used credit cards to buy diapers. I took out payday loans to make ends meet. When I saved anything, I had to use the savings to pay for unexpected expenses. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another, and something always came up.

I share this because I want you know it doesn’t have to be this way.

Life has taken me through several deep valleys. But having a positive influence from my peers and a determination to succeed, I overcame the obstacles. Brick by brick, slowly stacked overtime, I eventually achieved financial independence and retired early in my 40s. I’m older and wiser than the teenage single mom, but the memories of my humble beginnings will stay with me forever.

The term, Fabulous Financials, was given to me by readers when I shared my financial journey online. It is when you achieve financial independence to live WHATEVER you love.
